The benefit of having your own dog is that you get to take your camera on all your walks and always have a subject who will look good no matter what! I use my Golden Retriever called Ned as my test subject for most of my pet photography and I have a good ability now to work with dogs on lead, pulling and moving around a lot to still make sure I get clear shots every time.
